Dear Editor, I hope I may bring to the attention of the music scene in this city the fact that next year is the local contemporary composer Andrew Glover’s 50th birthday.

As an avid follower of contemporary music I was wondering what the city’s musical establishment will be doing to celebrate this excellent composers’ birthday? Or will they, as they have so far done, neglect him.

He is well established abroad with his thought-provoking works but here in his home city he is unheard and unknown for no good reason. Maybe the CBSO or the BCMG could acknowledge his existence and perform something of his.

Probably I will celebrate the occasion on my own and be satisfied that at least I have heard this man’s work, unfortunately NOT in his home town.
