A 19-year-old man who desecrated a Jewish cemetery in Birmingham has been jailed for six years at the city's Crown Court.

More than 60 graves were smashed or knocked over in the Witton cemetery in August last year, causing an estimated £100,000 worth of damage.

Simon Johnston, of Lakes Road, Wyrley Birch, had previously pleaded guilty to causing racially aggravated damage to headstones belonging to various members of the Jewish community.

He and Carl Jones (24) also of Lakes Road, also admitted charges of causing racially aggravated alarm and distress to Marcus Johnson and racially aggravated abusive behaviour towards an elderly black man in College Road.
