A six-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital with multiple injuries after a three-car crash in Staffordshire.

The collision happened on Sevens Road, Hazelslade, Cannock, at around 9.50am on Monday and saw one of the cars overturned.

The girl, who was a front seat passenger in the overturned car, suffered multiple injuries in the crash, including chest injuries.

She was immobilised using a spinal board and neck collar and airlifted to University Hospital North Staffordshire for further assessment and treatment.

The woman driving the overturned car suffered neck and back pain.  She was taken by land ambulance to the same hospital.

A woman who had been driving one of the other cars was taken to Stafford General Hospital for further treatment.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Considering the damage to the vehicles, it is fortunate the people involved didn’t suffer more serious or even fatal injuries.”
