Dear Editor, Mike Davies (Drivers Jonas Deloitte) is misinformed about recent changes to the planning rules on ‘‘garden grabbing’’ (Planners unhappy at proposed garden grab laws, Post, June 11).
Last week’s announcement implements an explicit commitment made in both the Conservative and Lib Dem manifestos.
To suggest it goes against “pre-election statements’’ therefore is clearly wrong.
These changes will provide “power to the people” by enabling councils and communities to decide on the type of development they feel is suitable for their area, rather than being constantly overruled by top down regulations that fail to take into account the local situation.
