A three-strong gang escaped with a Subaru Impreza sports car after attacking its owner with a knife in the garage of his Warwickshire home, police said.

The 65-year-old victim suffered a cut to his forehead during the incident at a house in Pinewood Drive, Binley Woods. Detectives are treating the offence as aggravated burglary.

A police spokesman said: "A 65-year-old man arrived home at 6.15pm on Monday and parked his Subaru Impreza in the garage of his home. As he was getting out of the car a man wearing a balaclava approached him the garage. He threatened him with a screwdriver and demanded he hand over the keys to the car."

The second offender demanded the keys and hit out at the man with a knife causing a cut to his forehead.

The first offender then grabbed the keys and jumped into the driver's seat of the car before smashing through the garage door and making off.

Witnesses are being sought.
