A former glamour model from the Black Country walked free from court despite admitting bigamy for the fourth time.

Emily Horne, 30, was described by Judge Mushtaq Khokhar as a “manipulative woman” who had “undermined the institution of marriage”.

But the judge said he had decided not to jail her because she had made progress in the past six months since being prescribed with medication for a personality disorder.

Speaking outside Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, Horne, who was given a 10-month suspended sentence, said: “I am feeling great. I have been vindicated.”

Horne only told her “husband” Ashley Baker she was already married as they set off on their honeymoon.

She changed her name on marriage certificates to avoid detection.

Horne used to be a glamour model and is understood to have acted in adult movies under the name Amilieannya Carmichael.

The court heard that Horne had married four men by the age of 23.

Paul Hodgkinson, defending, said: “Her decision-making was affected by her mental health.

“She is sorry for what she has done and she is sorry for the pain she has caused to the men and their families.”

Horne, who has bipolar disorder, wed for the first time in York on her 18th birthday in December 1996, to a soldier who was later posted abroad. On his return he found she had left him and she married again in February 1999. But Horne again walked out and wed for a third time in December 2000.

West Yorkshire Police became aware of her serial marriages and cautioned her for two offences of bigamy in 2001.

But a year later she wed again. She was given a six-month sentence in 2004. But the time behind bars did not deter her from walking down the aisle again and Mr Baker unwittingly became husband number five in September 2007.

The court heard that her mental state was affected by the death of her sister when she was 18 and by her unhappy marriage to her first husband.
