A man has been airlifted to hospital following an air canister explosion at a Worcestershire industrial estate.

Emergency services were called to reports of an explosion at Oldington trading estate, in Kidderminster, shortly before 11.50am on Thursday.

The explosion resulted in four men needing treatment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “One man, believed to be in his 40s, suffered significant multiple injuries to both his upper and lower limbs.

"The man was given pain relief at the scene by the doctor before being airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further assessment and specialist treatment."

Three other casualties, all men, were treated at the scene for minor injuries and taken to Kidderminster Hospital.
