Four people have been taken to hospital following an accident on the M40 in Warwickshire on Sunday night.

The collision between two cars occurred on the motorway between junctions 12 – 13, at about midnight.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said three occupants from one of the vehicles were believed to have been out of the car when the collision happened.

One of the injured men had suffered a serious head injury and taken by air ambulance to University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire.

Another man suffered serious leg and chest injuries and a third casualty suffered serious leg injuries. Both were taken by land ambulance to the same hospital

A man who had been travelling in the second car at the time of the accident was treated on scene for a suspected neck injury before being taken to ambulance for further treatment.
