Police have arrested four men after raiding a cannabis factory in a flat above a Birmingham restaurant.

Passersby watched as officers led the men out of the property in Kings Heath during the Saturday afternoon operation.

Police uncovered 120 mature cannabis plants and hydroponics equipment crammed into the flat following a tip-off from members of the public.

Four men, aged between 34 and 51, were arrested. They were all later bailed while enquiries continue.

Yesterday, police praised the public for sniffing out the drugs stash.

East Birmingham-based Inspector Stuart Manley said: "I would like to thank those members of the public who shared their concerns about this address with us.

"Without that information, we would not have been able to take these drugs off the streets of Kings Heath."

He added: "At around 2.30pm on Saturday, June 16, officers from the Moseley and Kings Heath neighbourhood policing team executed a drugs warrant at a flat above a restaurant on Kings Heath High Street.

"Once inside, the team discovered a cannabis factory with 120 mature plants and full growing equipment. The drugs and the hydroponics kit have now been destroyed and safely disposed of.

"During the raid, four men aged between 34 and 51 were arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled drug."
