A former policewoman who successfully appealed against a conviction for drink driving is now facing allegations that she perverted the course of justice.
Hayley Slater, who was stationed in Nuneaton, is said to have falsely claimed she was not driving when her car was involved in an accident.
Slater (22) appeared at Warwick Crown Court yesterday after being charged with doing acts intended to pervert the course of justice.
The allegations arise out of a case last year, when Conway pleaded not guilty to driving with excess alcohol. She was convicted in September and fined £ 550 and banned for two years.
She was also convicted of careless driving and failing to stop after an accident.
Last November, she successfully appealed against the convictions.
At yesterday's hearing, Meghann McTague, defending, indicated Slater would deny perverting the course of justice. The case was adjourned for papers to be served on the defence. Slater, of Haywood, Lancs, was granted unconditional bail.
