Police investigating the fatal shooting of a father-of-four outside a bar made another arrest today, taking the number of suspects questioned to five.

Swinder Singh Batth, 47, was shot outside Gavin's Sports Bar in The Orchard, Bilston, Wolverhampton, just after midnight on Monday night.

Mr Batth, from Moxley, Walsall, who was the licensee of the bar, was pronounced dead in hospital.

A 24-year-old man, from Bilston, was arrested this morning on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by detectives. Two 21-year-old men, two men aged 22 and 23 and a 19-year-old woman were held yesterday on suspicion of murder and are helping police with their inquiries.

West Midlands Police said a post-mortem was due to take place on Wednesday and The Orchard remained closed as forensic examinations continued.

Detective Chief Inspector Jo Clews, who is heading the investigation, said: "We are keen to speak to any regulars who visit Gavin's Sports Bar and in particular those who may have been drinking there on Monday night.

"We urge anyone with information, or who may have seen the incident in the early hours of Tuesday morning, to get in touch. Their piece of information, no matter how small, may prove vital to our investigation."
