Dear Editor, We read in your paper that the Government is to make available £250 million to kick-start the construction of electric vehicles in the UK, together with the necessary supporting infra structure of charging stations and connections.  This forward thinking initiative should not only help to meet Britain’s climate change targets, but it should also present a major opportunity for Midlands vehicle manufacturers.

We are aware of the difficulties that the motor industry has been experiencing.

The Government’s electric vehicle strategy points a way forward that local manufacturers should grasp, fully supported by local councils.

This is a major opportunity for local industry to make a contribution not only to the economic wellbeing of everyone in the region, but also to help secure the long term stability of the climate on which we are all dependant.
