Midland prestige car marques Jaguar and Land Rover have both been shortlisted by British luxury industry organisation Walpole in its annual Awards for Excellence.

Jaguar has been shortlisted in the British Luxury Overseas category, with Gerry McGovern nominated for Land Rover and shortlisted in the British Luxury Design Talent category.

The British Luxury Overseas Award is presented to the company that has achieved outstanding success in raising its profile and business overseas through export, expanding retail presence, increasing sales and special events in 2012.

The British Luxury Design Talent Award is presented to the company or individual that has maintained the highest standard of British design talent through innovation, design and quality product in 2012.

Jaguar global brand director, Adrian Hallmark, said: "It is an honour to be nominated by an organisation as prestigious and influential as Walpole.

"I believe Jaguar is a great example of a British luxury brand excelling both in Britain and overseas.

"Earlier in 2012, Jaguar was named the Number One manufacturer in Britain in the JD Power and Associates Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study, and placed second in North America.

"A growing reputation for outstanding quality is the foundation of our success.

"The success of the current range of Jaguar cars, and the overwhelming reception to the launch of our new F-Type sports car is testament to the brand's international appeal.

Land Rover global brand director, John Edwards, added: "Gerry's design talent and leadership is proven again and again, with the Range Rover Evoque literally a game changer for the company and contributing massively to its business success.

"The recently revealed all-new Range Rover is the next step in realising the design vision for this great British brand and its already receiving resounding critical acclaim from all over the world. We look forward to the Walpole Awards results in London later this month."

The Walpole Awards for Excellence take place on November 19 with a panel of 60 judges deciding winners across 10 categories.

Previous winners include Alexander McQueen, Victoria Beckham, the Royal Opera House.
