Two teenagers found guilty of killing award-winning DJ Tushar Makwana have had their sentences cut in London's Criminal Appeal Court.

Matthew Jeffrey (18) was sentenced to ten years detention at Leicester Crown Court last December after being found guilty of manslaughter and admitting three counts of burglary and one of robbery.

Michael Francis William McGuire (19) also received ten years detention after being convicted of manslaughter, robbery and burglary. He admitted three other burglaries.

He also received an extended term of four years, meaning if he breaks the law during the four years after being released he could be recalled to prison.

Yesterday Lord Justice Rose, sitting with Mr Justice Crane and Mr Justice Openshaw, cut Jeffrey's detention to eight years and quashed the extended term imposed on McGuire.

The appeals of their two co- defendants - Ashley Cooksey (19) and Brett Daniel Frewin (18) who also received ten years in custody and four-year extended terms - will be heard at a later date.
