One girl at a Birmingham school had extra cause for celebration yesterday.

Danielle Rudd, a dyslexic, achieved nine GCSEs (A, B and seven Cs) at Priory School in Edgbaston.

Danielle, from Lichfield, Staffordshire, and her family celebrated with Champagne and her mother, Mandy, said: "We hoped that Danielle would do well but she's exceeded our expectations."

This year 87 per cent of pupils at Priory, an independent Catholic School, achieved A* to C in five or more subjects and 20 per cent achieved five or more A*/As.
