A cyclist has been seriously injured following a collision with a car in Tamworth.

The 26-year-old man was taken by air ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham, with serious head, leg and arm injuries.

The incident happened on Ventura Park Road near to McDonald's at around 3.15pm on Monday.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "Crews arrived on scene to find a man lying on the floor next to a car being cared for by passers by.

"Crews immediately began dressing his wounds, administering pain relief and immobilising him with a neck collar, spinal board and leg splint. His condition was stabilised before he was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further assessment and treatment."
