Coventry City have confirmed striker Michael Mifsud is in talks with Coca-Cola Championship rivals Bristol City after the clubs agreed a fee for the player.

The Robins have been given permission to discuss terms with the Malta international, who scored 17 goals for the Sky Blues last season, 11 times in the league but towards the end of the season suffered a goal drought spanning 19 games.

At the end of the season, Mifsud, pictured, handed in a transfer request at the Ricoh Arena.

Coventry boss Chris Coleman said: “I spoke with Michael this week and he feels it is time for him to move on.”

If the transfer goes ahead, Mifsud will re-unite with former Sky Blues striker Dele Adebola.

The 24-year-old was outstanding for the troubled Hatters last season and ended the campaign on loan to Leicester City.
