Commuters waiting at Birmingham New Street will not have to worry about keeping in touch with matches at this year's Wimbledon tennis tournament - thanks to a giant scoreboard screen being put up at the station.

A total of 13 railway stations across Britain will host the screens during Wimbledon fortnight, starting June 20.

The giant two metre-high screens will use the familiar Wimbledon scoreboard format and will show live scores direct from Centre Court.

Score feeds will be based on the same technology that is used to update the official Wimbledon website, and will provide on-screen TV graphics and information for match commentators.

The system relies on courtside data entry staff who record details of each shot using a customised PC which is then relayed to commuters.
