Midland MPs are to return to the House of Commons to quiz Ministers over the Govern-ment's approach to the war in Lebanon.
They will cut short their summer break to challenge Foreign Office Ministers over Britain's response to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
The Foreign Affairs Select Committee, which includes MPs Gisela Stuart (Lab Edgbaston), Ken Purchase (Lab Wolverhampton North East) and John Maples (Con Stratford) is to meet on September 13.
It is unusual for select committees to meet while Parliament is not sitting, and the decision to hold an inquiry during the recess reflects the strength of feeling among MPs.
More than 100 Labour backbenchers signed a letter demanding the full recall of Parliament to debate the crisis in Lebanon, but the request was turned down.
The select committee hearing is the next best thing. Mr Purchase said: "We wanted to have an update with regard to the situation in the Middle East and whether or not there will be a lasting settlement.
"We will want to know in detail what Britain's position is in regard to Lebanon."
