Soccer star Stan Collymore has been fined #84 by an Australian court following a run-in with police outside a nightclub.
The former Villa and Liverpool player was arrested earlier this week after reportedly arguing with police following a row with British backpackers in a nightclub in Cairns, Queensland.
Collymore, 34, pleaded guilty at Cairns Magistrates Court yesterday, to a charge of contravening a police move-on direction, Australia's AAP news agency reported.
No conviction was recorded.
Cannock-born Collymore was arrested when he refused to leave the Woolshed nightclub after police had issued him with a "move on" order, Cairns police said.
Reports claimed that bouncers at the nightclub threw out a group of British backpackers who had taunted Collymore, before asking him to leave as well.
Collymore reportedly insisted to police that he was an innocent victim before he was arrested.
