Former soccer star Stan Collymore was in bother again yesterday after being arrested in Australia for reportedly arguing with police following a row with British backpackers in a nightclub.

The ex Villa and Liverpool player was held when he failed to leave the Woolshed nightclub in Cairns, Queensland, after police had issued him with a "move on" order.

A Cairns Police spokeswoman said: "A 34-year-old British man was arrested and charged with contravening a move- on direction after behaving in a disorderly manner outside the Woolshed nightclub at 2.50am local time.

"He has been released on an undertaking that he will appear at the Cairns Magistrates Court on Friday, November 4."

Bouncers at the nightclub threw out a group of British backpackers who had taunted Collymore, who grew up in Cannock, before asking him to leave as well.

Collymore reportedly insisted to police that he was an innocent victim before he was arrested. The trouble is the latest in a list of late-night controversies surrounding the star.
