The manager of a top Birmingham restaurant has died following a car accident.

Thierry Rodrigues, who helped run French restaurant La Toque d'Or in Warstone Lane, Hockley, suffered head injuries when his car crashed on the A449 at Hartlebury, near Kidderminster.

The 32-year-old front of house manager, who lived in Kidderminster, was airlifted to Birmingham's Selly Oak Hospital by air ambulance but died ten days later.

Mr Rodrigues, who had worked at the restaurant when it was known as Gilmore's, as well as at the Plough and Harrow, has since been buried in his home town near Toulouse in France.

La Toque d'Or owner and chef Didier Philipot said that he had been devastated by his friend's death.

He said: "He was with me from day one. You become very close to someone in those circumstances."
