Prosecutors have dropped one terrorism charge against a British Muslim convert.

The Old Bailey jury trying Andrew Rowe, (34), formerly from Birmingham, will not return a verdict on a writing a code charge.

The remaining charges, alleging he had items for uses connected to terrorism, stand. Rowe, of Maida Vale, north west London, denies the charges.

He was arrested in October 2003 entering the Channel Tunnel in France.

A ball of socks in his luggage had traces of at least three high explosives and could have cleaned a mortar muzzle, it is alleged.

Mortar instructions and a code were found in London and Birmingham.
