A shopping centre in Coventry had to be cordoned off yesterday after chlorine was found leaking from cylinders in a lorry parked there.
The emergency services closed Cannon Park Shopping Centre, in Lynchgate Road, while specialist recovery teams from Cheshire travelled to the incident.
Three workers at a nearby Tesco store had to be given first aid after breathing in fumes.
The lorry, containing 100 cylinders, had been parked at the centre overnight on its way to Chester.
West Midlands Fire Service said the lorry was removed from the scene at about midday and the area was reopened soon after.
In an unrelated incident, a chlorine gas leak also occurred at Warwick University at about 11am yesterday.
The entire physics department at the university campus in Canley had to be evacuated when the gas started leaking from one the centre's laboratories. Four fire officers found the source of the leak and sealed it off.
