Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Glenn Hoddle has revealed the immediate future of Keith Lowe depends on the fitness of his other defenders as he contemplates sending the youngster out on loan for a third time this season.

Centre-back or full-back Lowe has already had spells at Burnley and, most recently, Queens Park Rangers in the current campaign but was sent back from Loftus Road, along with striker Leon Clarke, just a week after joining them in the January transfer window.

Lowe would probably have played for Wolves in last Saturday's 3-2 win at Hull City had league rules not made him ineligible, but now League One high-fliers Swansea City are reported to have expressed an interest in the 20-year-old and Hoddle is assessing his option.

"We have looked at allowing the two lads to go back out to get some first-team football, but I would prefer to see if my centrehalves are fit before agreeing to Keith going anywhere," said Hoddle.

"I just need to see how Gabor [Gyepes] and Jody [Craddock] are coming along, and if Rob Edwards comes back without a problem.

"Keith would have been in the squad at the weekend if he'd have been eligible to play. As it was, I had no defender on the bench and if any of the back four had suffered an injury we'd have had to change things around, with Paul Ince possibly having to drop back. That's just the way our injuries and everything have worked out.

"We've looked at clubs that Leon could go to, but I want to see if all the international lads come back OK before making a decision."
