Birmingham City owner Carson Yeung has been granted the right to make a one-off trip to the UK next month, his lawyer has confirmed.

Yeung, who is facing charges of money laundering in Hong Kong, was forced to surrender his travel documents as part of the conditions of the bail that was granted at the end of June, but had hoped to be allowed to visit the UK with the end of the transfer window approaching.

His lawyer Clive Grossman confirmed  that Yeung was given permission to make an exceptional visit to the UK to deal with his business affairs from September 15 to 19.

Yeung faces five counts of money-laundering amounting to around £59million. He denies the charges.

Reports in Hong Kong said that Grossman had told the court it was essential that Yeung visit the UK in his role as owner of Blues.

He is expected to meet Chris Hughton, Blues' manager on his trip.

Mr Grossman told the court: "As director and chairman of his company, Yeung holds a duty to his shareholders in England. He has to speak to his board, players, fans and management."
