First a broken dugout after a blow that sent Perspex pieces splattering about the Molineux dugout.
Now a broken tactics board.
Not bad for a team that has spent seven months struggling to punch their way out of a wet paper bag.
Stale Solbakken’s frustration against Brighton in November was mirrored by Carl Ikeme’s madness at half-time against Bristol City.
And yet in both instances nobody was seriously hurt and Wolves scored late goals to rescue hurt pride.
Ikeme will surely return before the last knockings of the season, a season that all of a sudden has gained some momentum. The late goal at Watford and two wins against Millwall and the Robins have made it seven points from the last four games.
And all of a sudden that decision to send the players on a bus to Cheltenham races doesn’t seem quite as barmy after all.
“At half-time I criticised them and they have reacted great,” said Saunders.
“I don’t know how many times we have come from behind at home. Blackburn, Watford, Leeds... they’ve showed good character and we needed a result.”
The win over the Robins came about on a day everything turned up trumps for Saunders, for once.
Even his Wales rugby team went on to trounce the enemy.
“Lots of things went right, I suppose.
“We went to Cheltenham on the Tuesday – that was obviously right, wasn’t it?! The Army have regular bonding trips.
“Other things went right – I made Kevin Doyle captain and he scored.
“Going to Cheltenham was evident in the way they celebrated the (winning) goal. You saw the players. You saw Doyle running to the corner.
“They showed what it meant to them.
“I think it (Cheltenham) helped.
“It got them together as a group. It’s the first time I’ve been able to do it since I’ve been here.
“And the three subs that came on did well. Stephen Hunt made the goals, Bjorn Sigurdarson came on and made a difference in the air especially, and could have scored two goals himself.
“Dorus de Vries came on and kept the ball out of the net and had a couple of assists.
“And another thing went right. I took the players to the stadium on the Friday for training. And all these things if you don’t win, they are wrong.
“But if you win they all look as if they are right. You try different things and we got a great result.
“That’s two wins out of three now. We have lost one game in the last four, if you look at it the other way, and we are going in the right direction. It has been coming. If feel inside that we are making progress, even though we haven’t been getting the results on the board we are making progress. Now we are starting to get results which is the main thing.”
As for the points required for safety?
They seem to be rising by each passing weekend.
“We definitely have to get to 51 points I think,” added Saunders.
