Detectives hunting an armed raider dubbed "Cap Man" have arrested a 46-year-old man after making a televised appeal for information.
West Mercia Police issued a plea on Tuesday night's Crimewatch UK programme for help in identifying a man photgraphed by a CCTV camera.
A spokesman for the force said officers had arrested a man from the Solihull area of the West Midlands on Tuesday night. Officers are investigating possible links between 24 offences committed at banks, building societies and betting shops during the last decade.
The robberies occurred in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire, Worcestershire, the West Midlands, Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire and Cambridgeshire.
