Cannock Chase murderer Raymond Leslie Morris has been granted a judicial review of his case in his latest bid to overturn his conviction.
Morris, who has spent 42 years behind bars for the abduction and murder of seven-year-old Christine Darby, was granted permission for a review after the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) refused to refer his case to the Court of Appeal.
The Birmingham-based miscarriages of justice organisation led a seven-year investigation to re-examine the nature of his original conviction following allegations of police misconduct.
The primary ground of appeal is understood to relate to allegations that police interview notes were tampered with.
Morris, from Walsall, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Christine Darby in 1969.
The case will be heard in Leeds in December.
