Homebuyers have snapped up 50 luxury apartments at Birmingham's new Edgbaston Mill development in a £10 million spending spree.
Buyers queued up at the on-site marketing suite to ensure first pickings at the £100 million site, opposite Warwickshire County Cricket Club's Edgbaston ground.
More than 50 apartments from the 344 in the Redrow scheme were sold on the first day, at prices from £158,950 to £241,950.
The £100 million scheme will see Calthorpe Estates develop the nine-acre site to include a food store, restaurants, a 120-bedroom hotel and leisure facilities.
A spokeswoman for Calthorpe Estates said: "People were queuing - there was a really high demand because of the location. You are only a mile from the city centre, but in the middle of a conservation area, close to Cannon Hill Park and the cricket ground."
A sod-cutting ceremony marked the launch of construction at the development, called Hemisphere.
The contract is scheduled to take two years while talks are under way with restaurants and leisure operators.
Plans are in the pipeline for a children's indoor play centre at the site.
