University students from across the Midlands are being urged to discover what Birmingham’s business district has to offer when an open day is held in the city later this month.

The Colmore Business District Student Open Day takes place on Wednesday, October 26 from 10am and 5pm and is being backed by a host of firms in the heart of the city.

The event is being organised by Colmore Business District (CBD) in partnership with Katie Bard recruitment and will provide students the opportunity to visit six businesses in CBD across a range of sectors. Presentations will be given by Hotel du Vin, PwC, DLA Piper, Barclays Wealth, Turner & Townsend and BranchMartinSpicer at each location.

Verity Stokes, team leader at Katie Bard recruitment on Waterloo Street, which is hosting a lunch and CV clinic on the day, said students should not miss out on the chance to meet potential future employers.

“Birmingham has so much to offer graduates leaving the top class universities we are lucky to have in the region, and this event will be an ideal way of showcasing exactly what this great city has to offer,” she said.

“We want the best graduate talent to stay here, and where better to hold the event than in the heart of Birmingham’s business district which boasts around 500 companies employing more than 35,000 people.

“It is not often students will have the chance to meet so many leading organisations and discover what career opportunities are available to them.

“Some of the firms taking part will also have work placements up for grabs – so this opportunity should not be missed.”
