Buses will replace trains on some key routes in the West Midlands over the Christmas period, rail companies have announced.
But the number of replacement buses has halved compared with Christmas last year, the Association of Train Operating Companies and Network Rail said.
The two companies said that works costing £109 million were being carried out on the network from December 24 to January 2.
The key works are in Birmingham and the redevelopment of New Street station where Network Rail will be carrying out various works, including the installation of a footbridge.
A reduced service will operate on local routes via Birmingham New Street on December 27 and December 28.
Train companies which will be running buses instead of trains on some routes over the Christmas/new year period include London Midland, CrossCountry and Virgin Trains.
Buses will replace trains on a number of routes on December 27, including Wolverhampton to Crewe.
