Birmingham boss Graham Drury will instruct his side to show no complacency when Newport visit Perry Barr in the first round of the Knockout Cup tonight.

The Welsh club have struggled on their travels so far this season, but Drury is targeting a good home performance and a big lead to take to the Hayley Stadium for Sunday's second leg because the Wasps have displayed good form at home in recent weeks.

The Brummies management remain happy with their team's efforts in the first month of the season, with last week's double defeat against Rye House not seen as a major setback given the Rockets' strength.

Newport possess significantly less firepower as they have introduced two new riders to the Premier League this year, with Pole Michal Rajkowski and highlyrated young Australian Tom Hedley supplementing the experience of Phil Morris.

Drury said: "I know Newport have struggled so far this season, but that means nothing going into the Cup.

"I'll be instructing my riders to stay focused, we cannot afford to slip up against them and I'll be looking for a good reaction from my boys after our defeats to Rye House. I hope the fans continue to make plenty of noise."
