As a prospective independent candidate for the role of Police and Crime Commissioner in the West Midlands, I am vehemently opposed to any form of privatisation of the force.
As I see it, the present force is far too large, fragmented and unmanageable. One only has to look at the distance from Coventry across Birmingham to Wolverhampton to realise that.
With regard to the city, I firmly believe the time has come to revert to being the Birmingham City Police, a force I joined and was proud to serve in, a force that was second to none.
