A Cannock company has won a £5 million contract to supply nearly 400 trucks and other materials-handling equipment.
Briggs Equipment won the deal to supply goods to one of the country’s largest builders’ merchants and home improvement retailers.
The new flexible-hire contract is the latest development in a long-standing relationship between Briggs and Travis Perkins and extends across its main UK distribution centres.
Briggs Equipment chief executive Richard Close said: “This is a national contract and our service centre here in Cannock acts as the main hub for all of Travis Perkins’ sites across the country. We are delighted to renew this agreement, the scale of which helps to secure local jobs for local people at a time when many jobs are being lost.”
The contract sees Briggs supply a wide range of Yale forklift trucks and other materials handling equipment.
Nick Wilson, Travis Perkins’ general manager – Brackmills Stores, said: “With over 2,600 pallets that need to be picked and moved daily, our operation needs to run as efficiently as possible to meet demand.”
