Birmingham City Football Club's chief executive Karren Brady is due to finally undergo surgery to treat an aneurysm in her brain later today.

Surgeons are expected to "stent" the swollen blood vessel using tiny platinum coils to block the flow of blood to it, eliminating the risk of it rupturing.

A burst aneurysm can be fatal, and can also lead to a stroke.

A catheter will be passed up through her groin, along one of the body's main arteries and into her brain, rather than carrying out open surgery.
