A five-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a car crash in Telford.

The boy received emergency treatment at the scene and was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further emergency treatment.

A girl, aged 10, travelling in the same car suffered a suspected broken arm and was taken by ambulance to Princess Royal Hospital, in Telford.

The crash occurred at The Lloyds, Coalport at about 12.30pm. The driver of the car carrying the children was a man who suffered chest injuries and was treated at the scene.  He was also transferred to Princess Royal Hospital.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “A man and woman travelling in the second car, both believed to be in their 50s, suffered chest, back and neck injuries. Both were treated at the scene and immobilised using spinal boards and neck collars."

They were also taken to Princess Royal Hospital for treatment.
