Police have confirmed that a body found on Christmas Day is that of a missing woman who was last seen leaving her home on a caravan park in Worcestershire.

Officers from West Mercia Police found the body of 59-year-old Yvonne Turner in the Walshes Estate area, Stourport-on-Severn, during Saturday afternoon.

Mrs Turner went missing from her home on the Walshes Farm Caravan Park, off Dunley Road, on Wednesday evening.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police are treating her death as unexplained at this time, but not suspicious."

West Mercia Police launched a poster campaign and brought in specialist dog handlers in a bid to find Mrs Turner.

A team of about 30 detectives and other officers were involved in the search, and the last known sighting of Mrs Turner was captured by a CCTV camera at about 10am as she left the caravan park.

Mrs Turner moved to Stourport from Birmingham six years ago with her husband Brian after he retired from his job as a window fabricator.

Appealing for help to trace his wife, Mr Turner said: "I am trying to remain optimistic but bearing in mind the freezing weather outside I am sick with worry.

"I am missing her desperately and just want to hear she is safe and well. Right now the only Christmas present I want is for her to come back home so that we can spend it together."
