A body recovered from a river near Hereford has been identified as that of a missing person from the city.

West Mercia Police said the body of Ros Russell, who was last seen by a taxi driver in February, had been recovered from the River Lugg at Lugwardine on Tuesday.

The 62-year-old's body, which was spotted in the river by a farmer, was recovered with the help of a fire service water rescue unit.

Detective Chief Inspector Sean Paley, the head of Herefordshire CID, said: "We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this.

"This is a very sad event and our thoughts are with Ros' family and friends."
