Police are investigating the unexplained death of a teenager in Worcestershire.

Officers were called to a house in Alvechurch where the body of a boy was found. His identity has not been released but he is understood to have been a pupil of South Bromsgrove High School.

A staff member at the school said pupils were informed of the death when they arrived yesterday morning. Police officers and physiologists spent the day talking to pupils about the death and offered support.

A spokesman from West Mercia Constabulary said: “Police can confirm that they are investigating the unexplained death of a teenage male in Alvechurch. Officers were called to an address there at 7.05am yesterday where the body of a male in his teens was found. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Police are treating the death as unexplained and liaising with other agencies.”

The coroner for North Worcestershire has been informed and a post-mortem is due to take place.
