Crafty crooks are using mobile phone bluetooth technology to detect laptop computers and other equipment hidden in cars.

Thieves are believed to be using their mobile phones to detect hidden electrical equipment, such as laptops and satellite navigation systems, which are hidden under car seats, or in boots and glove compartments.

Since bluetooth is common in sat navs, it has made it easier for criminals to find unattended gadgets left in cars. By using their mobile phone's bluetooth settings, they can search for other devices within the vicinity.
