Steve Bruce has admitted Birmingham have to become more knowledgeable about the European transfer market.

Bruce is widening his scouting network and has recruited the services of ex-Burnley boss Stan Ternent and former England and Everton defender Dave Watson.

But the Blues chief knows he has to wise up when it comes to being aware of potential targets from the continent.

Bruce has showed his willingness to move in this direction by bringing in the likes of Olivier Kapo, Rafael Schmitz, Richard Kingson and Daniel De Ridder this summer.

Bruce said: "The one area we’ve got to improve on is the European recruitment market. We have to ensure we know that market better than we do.

"We have employed Stan Ternent and Dave Watson to do a bit of stuff for us and they have vast experience and knowledge. But we are hoping to get in one more person with vast experience who will be able to cover the European market.

"There are so many players in that market that you may want to tap into and having first hand and top notch info about them is crucial."

Meanwhile, loan signings, midfielder Borja Oubina and Wilson Palacios, made their Blues bow in the Birmingham Senior Cup clash with Halesowen last night which Blues won 2-0.

Oubina has signed a season long deal from Celta Vigo while Palacios, recommended to Bruce by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, has been loaned out by Honduran side Olympia until December.
