Birmingham City are hopeful of concluding a deal for Tottenham Hotspur full-back Stephen Kelly by the time they return to pre-season training on Thursday.

An undisclosed fee, believed to be between £750,000 and £1 million, enabled Birmingham to open talks with the Republic of Ireland international, and the likelihood is that Kelly will sign a deal.

Manager Steve Bruce has also confirmed that midfielder Muzzy Izzet's career is in the balance due to a recurring knee complaint.

"There are considerations with Muzzy," he said.

"He has come to the point where he can't fulfil what he wants to do."

Kidderminster Harriers have signed Dean Sturridge on a one-year deal. The 32-year-old, who previously had spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City, will link up with the Conference outfit after parting company with Queens Park Rangers last season.

Harriers manager Mark Yates was a former Birmingham team-mate of Sturridge's elder sibling, Simon, during the late 1980s.
