More than 75 firefighters were called in to tackle this blaze at a timber yard in Birmingham last night.

Ten crews from across the city and Sandwell were called to H D Lowe in Garrison Lane, Bordesley, at 7.29pm.

The premises were completely destroyed, but neither West Midlands Fire Service or West Midlands Police would comment on how the fire started.

A fire service spokesman also described the blaze, about 150 yards from Birmingham City Football Club, as a " level two asbestos incident".

A hydraulic platform was brought in to act as a water tower, to support crews from Aston, Central, Highgate, Ladywood, Smethwick, West Bromwich and Ward End.
