Two tower blocks in Walsall have been approved for demolition in the latest phase of a regeneration project.

The board of Central Walsall Housing Trust gave the go-ahead to plans to demolish Scrimshaw House and Taylor House, at Pleck, which means all six tower blocks on the site are to come down.

Stansbury House and Marshall House have already been cleared, and the housing trust is helping the last remaining tenant to find an alternative property, and those living in Darby House and Wesley House are in the process of moving to new accommodation.

The housing trust is now helping people living in Scrimshaw House and Taylor House to find suitable new homes before the blocks are made secure, ready for demolition.

Gary Fulford, chief executive of Central Walsall Housing Trust, commented: "It's excellent news that approval has now been given for the demolition of all six tower blocks at Pleck.

"The area deserves major regeneration and clearing the site will mean that we can continue to work with residents to decide how the whole area should be developed in the years to come."
