A man who was jailed for his part in stabbing a student to death in the Black Country has absconded from an open prison.
Ashley Carlton James, who was sentenced to 10 years in jail for manslaughter in July 2008, left HMP Sudbury on Monday, Derbyshire Police said.
The 26-year-old is described as white, 6ft 1in tall, of slim build, with cropped black straight hair and brown eyes.
A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Police said: "His last known addresses are in Blackpool and Wolverhampton.
"Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of this man is asked not to approach him but to immediately contact their local police or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
James was jailed at Wolverhampton Crown Court alongside his cousin Errol Price over the death of Uriel Johnson in Bilston, in July 2007.
Mr Johnson, was found injured in Wellington Road in Bilston and died later in hospital.
A post-mortem examination found he died from a single stab wound to the chest.
Price is serving a minimum sentence of 15 years for murdering the student, who had been due to start a college construction course.
