Dear Editor, I see from the Post (April 7) that Alstrom has a “complex agreement with Virgin to ensure trains are kept well-maintained”.

That apparently doesn’t cover maintenance of the lavatories on Virgin’s trains, many of which stink so badly that they can be smelt throughout the train.

The last time I travelled on a Virgin train the stink of lavatory when the train door opened nearly persuaded me to stay on the platform – and it certainly persuaded me not to travel by Virgin again.
