A teenager has been charged with the murder of a woman thought to be his mother.
Patricia Fort, aged 57, died of suspected stab wounds at Birmingham’s Heartlands Hospital on Monday morning.
Emergency services found her critically injured at an address in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, in the early hours of Monday morning.
She was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Police yesterday said an 18-year-old man has been charged with her murder and is due to appear before Solihull Magistrates today.
Police would not comment on reports that he is Mrs Fort’s son.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said crews were called to an address in Lanchester Way just before 3.30am on Monday, to reports of a woman who had been seriously injured.
A spokesman said: “The woman was treated at the scene and transferred to Heartlands Hospital whilst ambulance staff continued emergency treatment in the ambulance.
“The patient was met at the hospital by a medical team, but unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews and hospital staff, nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead shortly after arrival at hospital.”
Police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem.
