A 140-year-old oil painting by a Birmingham artist has sold for £20,809 at a New York auction.
The picture, Ready For Sport, was painted by George William Horlor, who lived and worked from New Street, Birmingham, in 1861.
According to BBC TV Antiques Roadshow expert Christopher Wood, in his Dictionary of Victorian
Painters, Horlor "painted in a bright cheerful style".
The Horlor was one of ten pictures sold for a total of £664,161 at Christie's - at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York - by America's 23rd richest man, media magnate John Kluge.
Mr Kluge, aged 91, is reputed to be worth nine billion dollars and was once billed as America's richest man.
