A 70-year-old Birmingham man has been named volunteer of the year by brain injury association Headway.
John Barnes, of Stirchley, was honoured for his "admirable" work in helping brain injury victims over 10 years.
The former building firm boss, who has four children and eight grandchildren, became treasurer of a Headway branch that helps hundreds of people affected by brain injuries in the West Midlands area.
"Ten years of continuous service is admirable," said Peter McCabe, Headway chief executive.
The award was given at a glittering awards ceremony at London's Dorchester Hotel.
